TAXPAYERS IN ILLINOIS can maximize the tax benefits of their charitable donations by giving to Scholarship Granting Organizations (SGOs). SGOs are non-profit organizations that are approved by the Illinois Department of Revenue to receive qualified contributions from individuals and businesses to be disbursed to qualified, non-public schools in Illinois in the form of scholarships to eligible Illinois students. The Invest In Kids scholarship program offers a 75 percent income tax credit to individuals and businesses that contribute to SGOs. This tax credit provides a significant benefit over traditional charitable giving.
